Fukyu Kata - Fundamental Kata

The Fukyu series of Kata are designed to build fundamental techniques and stances for beginners. They operate on a straight line going forward and backward including progressing and retracting during the sequences. The student begins to develop a sense of footwork that is useful in their Karate training through this series of Karate as well as laying the foundation in Shorin Ryu principles that will aide them through their studies. It is important to note that there are three Fukyu Kata but they are always performed as a single kata in sequence with one another.
